SAAS About Us
HISTORY
Langston University was established in 1897 as a land grant institution under the Second Morrill Act of 1890. True to the land grant mission, the School of Agriculture and Applied Science (SAAS) teams conduct advanced academic research, collaborate through extension and outreach programs, and expand our impact through international outreach. We are dedicated to providing outstanding undergraduate academic programming and hands-on research opportunities. We are driven to find new discoveries to address the industry’s most pressing challenges.
Our top scientists, programmers, teachers, researchers, and farmers conduct research studies and provide training within the American Goat Research Institute, the Center for Horticulture and Agronomy Research, the Aquatic Resources Center, the Center for Biotechnology and Research and Education, the Agribusiness and Rural/Urban Economic Development, and the Family and Consumer Science Research Team. Our teams focus on improving outcomes geared toward health improvement, helping tackle food insecurity, protect environmental health, and enrich the lives of the next generation.
