Graduation Information

2017 Commencement Ceremony 

The Langston University Commencement Ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the W.E. Anderson Stadium. All graduates are asked to arrive by 8:00 a.m. and report to the I.W. Young Auditorium. Please see detailed event information below.

  • According to the available forecast, there is a chance of rain. Please be aware that umbrellas will not be permitted in the stadium. However, ponchos are allowed.

  • There will be staff and volunteers dressed in bright yellow vests that will be available to assist guests with any questions regarding the event.  Additionally, there will be an Emergency Medical Response team on site.

  • For your convenience, there will be a variety of food trucks selling food on campus that will be stationed on I.W. Young Drive near Sanford Lawn beginning at 10:00 a.m.

  • During commencement, the traffic in and around Langston is typically extremely heavy. Parking is available at no cost, and no passes are required for general parking in any of the open lots. Please note that parking on the grass on campus is strictly prohibited as campus beautification is in progress.

  • Ushers will be available on golf carts will be available to assist transporting guests to the ceremony location.

  • Should inclement weather arise, the ceremony will be divided into two sessions and will be held in the C.F. Gayles Field House.

  • Under these circumstances, all graduates will need to arrive in the hallways next to the C.F. Gayles Gymnasium two hours before the designated ceremonies.

  • All graduates will be notified of the location of the ceremony at the senior luncheon held Friday, May 12, 2017, at 11:30 a.m. Each graduating student will receive eight tickets to use for priority seating at the luncheon. 

  • If you have family or friends who are unable to attend the event, live streaming will be available at the start of the ceremony. Please feel free to share this link. 

  • Students may use #LUGRAD17 to tag tweets and photos before and after commencement. 

The crisis management team is monitoring the weather closely and a decision will be made tomorrow morning. Please continue to monitor our website and our social media outlets for updates regarding the location of the commencement ceremony.
