Where do I go to…

Find out about  activities that are happening on campus? Lion Links LionLinks is located on the Langston website under logins. Once you join, your will receive notices about upcoming events.  You can join the “organization” student life.

 

Change my address? Registrar’s Office. The Registrar is located on the first floor of Page Hall.

 

Buy my books?  At the Campus Bookstore.The Bookstore is on the first floor of the Student Success Center.  You can purchase books and school supplies there.

 

Find the buildings where my classes meet? The Langston website. Type in Langston map and a campus map will be available.

 

Change my class schedule? Add or drop a class? To see your advisor. For freshmen and sophomores this will be a person in University College.  For other students, it is the person assigned by your academic department.

 

Talk to someone or see a counselor? The Counseling Center. It is located in University Women.

 

Get my email address or login information? To the Instructional Technology help desk. IT help desk is located on the first floor of Gandy Hall.

 

Connect my email to my phone? To the Instructional Technology help desk. IT help desk is located on the first floor of Gandy Hall.

 

Apply for graduation? To the Registrar’s Office. The Registrar is located on the first floor of Page Hall.

 

Get my  Higher One (i.e., i.d.) card or a duplicate if I lose my card? The Business Office. The Business Office is located on the first floor of Page Hall.

 

Find out about work study or on campus jobs? To the Office of Student and Employee Services. Student and Employee Services is located on the first floor of Page Hall.

 

Buy a parking decal?  First to the Business Office to pay for the parking permit and then to the Police Department to pick up the parking decal. Business Office is located on the first floor of Page Hall.

 

Get information about scholarships? Contact the Financial Aid Office on the second floor of Page Hall.

 

Catch the Shuttle to Guthrie? You catch the shuttle at various locations across campus.  It runs four times daily starting at 10:20 a.m. at the Student Success Center.  Schedules are available through Capitol Trolley.  The phone number is (405) 282-6000.

 

Get help if I am sick? The Health Clinic. It is located on the first floor of University Women.

 

Join a student organization? To the Office of Student Life. It is located on the 2ND Floor of the Student Success Center.

 

Get a copy of my transcript? To the Registrar’s Office. The Registrar’s Office is located on the first floor of Page Hall.

 

Pay my tuition? At the Business Office. The Business Office is on the first floor of Page Hall and is open from 9:00-4:00, Monday through Friday.

What is…

An Administrative Withdrawal ("AW")? An administrative withdrawal occurs when a student is withdrawn from a class by the university.  This can occur if a student has excessive absences, has a disciplinary issue, or a financial issue.

 

The Dean's List? An honor for students who have an overall grade point of 3.0

 

An Enrollment Hold? An enrollment hold prevents students from enrolling in classes.  To find out why a hold was placed, a student should go to his/her “holds” section under “student records.”

A grade of Incomplete ("I") and can I request it? An incomplete is given to a student when circumstances do not allow a student to complete the course work required for the semester. In order for a student to receive an I, he/she must have completed a substantial amount of the class work and cannot have an F in the course.  An “I” should be made up within one year of receiving the grade. A student may request an “I” for extenuating circumstances.

 

A midterm grade report?  In the middle of each semester all faculty members submit a report on students grades.  If students are receiving a D or F in a class they will receive a report informing them of their grade and will be asked to meet with their instructor. 

 

What is plagiarism? Plagiarism is using the work of someone else without acknowledging the work as that of someone else. This can include quoting an author in a paper without giving the person credit for his/her words or research, or giving a speech and using someone else’s words or ideas as your own. 

 

Academic probation? Academic probation occurs if a student’s grade point falls below a 2.0.

 

Withdrawal from a class?  How do I do it? A student may withdraw from a class after the 10th day of a regular semester up until the 12th week of class (times vary for summer classes).   A student may pick up a withdrawal form from the Registrar’s Office.

 

 

Who do I talk to…

If I am failing a class (besides my instructor)?  Your academic advisor.  The Dean of your school.

If I disagree with a grade?  Your professor, the department chair, the dean of the school, the vice president of academic affairs.

If I can’t pay my bill?  The director of the Business Office (1st floor Page hall)

If I am homesick, bored, or lonely?  The Counseling Center (University Women Bldg.)

If I am having trouble with my roommate?  The Dean of Students (2nd Student Success Center)

If I need to access my veterans benefits? The Registrar (1st floor of Page Hall)

If I want to volunteer? The Dean of Students (2nd floor Student Success Center)

How do I…

Reach my professors?  Use your Langston email.  A directory of email addresses can be found on the Langston website.

Know if the school will be closed due to bad weather? Check the Langston website.  Weather announcements will be posted and frequently updated.

Pre-register for the next semester? Notices about preregistration will be sent to your Langston email account and will be posted on the website. Once your bill is paid,  you may meet with your advisor to pre-register for the next semester.
