Oklahoma City –Oklahoma City Community College’s Executive Vice President, Dr. Jerry Steward has recently been named Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Langston University-Oklahoma City and Langston University-Tulsa.
Dr. Steward is a member of the inaugural Board of Trustees at Langston. He was appointed by then Governor Brad Henry and confirmed by the Senate Education Committee in 2009.
Dr. Steward currently serves as Executive Vice President of OCCC, one of the nation’s largest community colleges, where he is the liaison with the community and with local, state, and federal elected officials. He is also responsible for the offices of Business and Finance, Community Development, Human Resources, and Information and Instructional Technology Services. Dr. Steward has been at OCCC for 17 years.
Prior to coming to OCCC, Dr. Steward established his own law firm where he was senior partner for over 20 years. He is a former member of the Oklahoma House of Representatives where he was chairman of the House Judiciary Committee. Dr. Steward received his Bachelor degree from the University of Central Oklahoma and his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Oklahoma Law School.
